Norwegian Cruise Line Send Non-Essential Crew Home.

Norwegian Cruise Line confirmed that non-essential crew members are being sent back home again after recently returning to the ships.

As reported at NYCruiseInfo.com, the criteria outlined by the CDC for the cruise lines to return to service, were not easy. Combined with the fact that spread of COVID-19 is still at elevated levels, Europe is in a lock down and there are worldwide vaccination challenges.

While other cruise news sites are buying into the hype and keep publishing hopeful dates for cruising to resume, we firmly believe that cruising on any scale will not be happening until October 2021. We predicted this in January, 2021 When Is It Realistic For Cruises To Return.

Considering the state of the world and new announcement that NCL will pause cruising at least until May, 2021, Norwegian Cruise Line has decided that they are now making adjustments on manning ships.

Non-essential crew members are being sent back home and according to the details, this will be done via the Norwegian Joy which is currently docked in Aruba, and Norwegian Encore which is docked in Southampton, UK. The process is set to be completed in April 2021. It is expected that the ships will head toward the Philippines, Indonesia, and India.

The Norwegian Joy and Norwegian Encore will remain local until cruise operations resume.
