Having followed ships for some 46 years, I cannot tell you how annoyed I am with what happened this week. As much as I comb through schedules, brochures and media to determine ship movements, I was totally surprised when I saw a live map of ship movements and saw the Silver Explorer sailing under the Verrazano-Narrow bridge heading toward the ocean.
It appears that on Tuesday, (10/3/2016), both the Silver Whisper and Silver Explorer where both in New York. The Silver Whisper was taking on passengers, beginning a New England / Canada cruise. The Silver Explorer, which traditionally sails the most exotic regions of the globe made a call in New York City on what appears to be a New England / Canada / Coastal Cruise. The ship will make her way to South America and eventually Antarctica. The Silver Explorer is an exclusive ship, offering clientele remote and unique destinations in a high end luxury setting, mixed with a sense of adventure. A 7 day cruise on the Silver Explorer can cost about $5,000/per person.
Unfortunately the cruise was not listed on the company's website, nor other sites.
Hopefully in 2017 the ship will revisit New York again.
