November 17, 2014 – As part of the many New York Inaugural events, The Quantum of the Seas was christened in Cape Liberty Bayonne, New Jersey by Actress Kristen Chenoweth this past Friday (November 14, 2014). The ship. which is being marketed as the first "Smart Ship", had Ms. Chenoweth use a tablet (pc) and, with a press of a button on the screen, the ceremonial bottle was released and smashed against the ship.
After the festivities, the ship sailed on a two day cruise to nowhere, which departed Cape Liberty Cruise Terminal and sailed up the Hudson River to the Empire State Building. At the Empire State Building, the ship turned 180 degrees in the river and then sailed out of the harbor, under the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. (The same maneuver was done on the November 16th sailing to nowhere as well).
On Sunday (as well as other days while in port), the Quantum of the Seas was showcased to travel professionals and the media.
Royal Caribbean is aggressively marketing the Quantum of the Seas in China and had a large group of Chinese Travel Agents, Dignitaries, Travel Executives, Media and Chinese Tour promoters on board.
NYCruiseInfo.com had an opportunity to visit the Quantum of the Seas and will have a review on ship later in the week check back to read the review on Friday!.
